Site Catalyst Click Map Setup

Here is the new post for Site Catalyst click map set up.

  1. The first thing to make sure of is that the s.trackClickMap variable (included in the config text code that you receive when you generate code for the given reporting suite) is set to “true”.
  2. There are two ActionSource implementation methods, as explained in the ActionSource implementation guide. One option is to drag and drop the ActionSource component onto the stage in Flash; the other is to instantiate the ActionSource object programmatically, without dragging and dropping onto the stage. Only one of these methods should be used; it is incorrect to instantiate the object programmatically and drag and drop the component onto the stage. Doing so will prevent ClickMap data from displaying properly. If this has already been done in your Flash application, please remove either the programmatic instantiation of the object, or remove the component from the stage.
  3. The s.movieID variable in your ActionSource code must be set to the same value as the “id” attribute in the tag and the “name” attribute in the tag in the HTML on the page in which the Flash application is embedded. An example of this is available in “ClickMap Support” section of the ActionSource implementation guide, which can be downloaded by clicking the link in the first paragraph of this article.
  4. If you have SiteCatalyst JavaScript code implemented on the page in which the Flash application is embedded, the s.pageName value in your ActionSource code must be exactly the same as the s.pageName value in the JavaScript code on the page.
  5. The s.trackClickMap variable must be set to “true.”
  6. The tag must contain the “wmode” parameter, and this parameter must be set to “transparent.” The tag should also have a “wmode” attribute, which must also be set to “transparent.”

Basic of SiteCatalyst Set up

Couple of times i found that analysts facing trouble to setup account. I am trying to write as per my knowledge and all experts comments are invited.

1 --> Installing Site Catalyst code is similar as embedding code onto the  web pages that you want to track. Approximately code provided by your account support manager is similar to all and configured with all the features necessary to meet your needs.  Once you implement you can further customize the code to fit your web site tracking and measurement requirements.

Few are the steps you need to follow to set up your pages to use Site Catalyst

  • Paste the HTML code into the Web site pages you want to track. Just make sure the code on your page appears exactly as it does in the file sent by your account support manager.
  • Set up all necessary variables you want to track from web page and save the pages with the installed SC code to your web server.
  • Just for testing purpose of your code whether you placed code right or not browse a few of the pages having code. Hope fully that will work properly if you havn't tried some thing thing fishy.
  • Once you logged be sure to check accuracy of your account setting from settings tab and then click the system administrator.
  • If your organization having multiple accounts then try to contact with administrator once to make sure avoid any confusion.
  • When you set up your site with Site Catalyst Code, you need to test the code and reports on your servers. You can check page name variable within the code on your test servers for the first time your account receives a page view.
  • Some time the data is come might be not as correct as you wanted, then you can drop a mail to account support manager with your details or you can speak with your account support manager directly.
